I'm running the TimeClock Pearl Network Solution with 200 employees. I am running FM Server Advanced 11. For some reason when I close the database and remove it from the server all the info that was in the admin section isn't there. This only recently started happening. I renamed the file. Would that cause the problem?

To change the name of a file being hosted using FileMaker Server or Server Advanced, you must close the file, move it out of the FileMaker Server directory, change the name of the file, then upload the newly named file using the upload file command...

I am a small business owner. I have been currently working with a free web-based system that allows my employees to clock in/out. The biggest problem I have is when the computer restarts (power outage, etc) it resets the IP address and therefore no longer recognizes the employees. The solutions your software offers appeals to me, bc it is software that is installed on your computer. My question is regarding the number of employees. At this practice, I only have 2 employees and we will never have more than 3-4. The software I understand it covers up to 5. So if I replace an employee does it change the number of employees? Meaning it obviously adds employees but am I able delete employees and therefore continue to use the software after 4-5 years and after going through 10-12 employees? And is there any reoccurring fees or is it a flat rate?

Only the number of active employees count toward your total of 5 employees. So, yes, if you never have more than 5 employees working for you at the same time, all you would need to pay for is 5 employees. When an employee leaves you can just mark...

As an admin can I program the removal of 15 or 30 minutes (depending on the employee) from each employee hours logged per day eliminating the need for them to log in and out? If so please explain how this works, and how is it presented in payroll reports?

The only automatic removal (deduction) is TimeClock Pearl's Auto Lunch Deduction feature that subtracts either 30 or 60 minutes, so the employee doesn't have to clock out at lunch and then clock back in after lunch. As the admin person, however,...

The time on our computer isn't right. How do we set the date and time? And why would this happen?

The date and time for the Kiosk Solution is retrieved from your computer, so you'll need to set the computer's date & time. If the computer isn't retaining the correct time, there's a small battery in your computer that needs to be changed.

Can employees monitor their own time by logging on? Can they specify what time they want to use for vacation or sick? Can several employees clock in and out using one computer? Do they use a login user id and password?

Will the program allow mass clock-out of all employees clocked in?

No, there isn't a function to do a mass clock-out of all employees, however, you can easily accomplish this by going to the Admin Menu, clicking the "Who's In" button, then entering a clock out time for each of the clocked in employees.

I am interested in the N4 software. Could our IT dept install this and set it up on 5 desktops at 5 locations with a staff of about 100 with varied shifts? Could this software handle this type of arrangement?

Trial Software - Hi,
I tried your Time Clock Pearl (K4) software (free trial) and read the entire 40 page Users' Guide. Below are my questions:
1. We are small a company with ALL 7 part time employees. The Supervisor, Timekeeper, & Administrator function is done by 1 person only. The employees can leave messages to Supervisor/Timekeeper/Admin about issues on their time cards. But the Supervisor/Timekeeper/Admin can't make a reply to such messages, is that true?
2. Our stand alone PC for Time Card Pearl is not capable Internet connected. Can we download the purchase software in USB device? The Free Trial did not give me that option to choose.
3. Guarding the PC clock is important which you cover briefly in the users guide, but we are not PC savvy too. Can this issue be covered in the 30 days free support?
4. The employees can leave messages to other employees, example to cover her shift on such day and time. But the intended employees can't read or access such message. Is that true? (or because such functionality is disabled in the trial version).

You actually read the User's Guide? Wow. That may be a first!
1) For a Supervisor/Timekeeper/Admin person to be able to reply to a message, you must enter them in the system as an employee and assign them a PIN.
2) Yes, you can download the...

We currently are using on version 3.0 September 2004 and are looking to upgrade to TimeClock Pearl 4. Does version 4 take the time from the log in/out computer or can it be tied into our servers time? With version 3, an employee could change the clock on their computer and proceed to log in/out... to correct this issue we had to disable the clock.

The TimeClock Pearl 4 Network and Cloud Solutions both retrieve the date/time stamp from the computer/server hosting it, not the computer connecting to it as a client. If you host the Network Solution on a computer to which employees don't have...

Are employees able to punch in and out from ANY computer? I want to make sure people are not punching in/out from home. Is there a way to set it up where they can only punch from computers that i authorize via IP address? Can you export to quickbooks, or in a file format that is compatible with quickbooks? Any way to track, enter per diem?

I can't modify the Network Solution free trial. When I click the Admin button on the Time Clock screen it says admin can't be down from a web browser. File sharing is on. Web publishing is on.

Are most of the Admin functions only available on the workstation hosting Timclock Pearl network Edition program? Or can I access the information thru a web browser on another workstation?

What do I do if I change the workstation hosting the Timeclock Pearl Network program?

I am researching time card management software to replace the once we currently use.
Our primary criteria:
1. must work off the 2003 server (we have two locations in different time zones
2. must calculate by the week even though we have a bi-weekly pay period
3. our needs are very simple: inteface to Quickbooks if possible, track by name and a date range

1) We encourage you to download TimeClock Pearl and use it free for 15 days for 5 employees to make sure it works in your environment (we have other clients using it with 2003 server). Click any of the Free 15 Day Free Trial buttons on our home...
